Concrete Finisher
A Concrete Finisher is a construction worker that performs many tasks that require physical labor on construction sites. Most concrete finishers work full time and do physically demanding work. It is the responsibility of the concrete finisher to place and complete all finish work for concrete flat-work, stamped concrete and structural concrete in the progress of construction project as needed. In the performance of this function, it is also the concrete finisher’s responsibility to protect and promote BECK CONSTRUCTION & EXCAVATION’s interests in all matters and do whatever is reasonably necessary to execute his/her duties and responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, the following:

- The concrete finisher will use a variety of hand tools (blowtorches, hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, tape measures, levels, etc.), power tools (drills, grinders, saws, etc.), air tools and small heavy equipment and machines, pressure washers and water spraying equipment
- The concrete finisher will be responsible for managing his/her crew and assist in tying rebar, setting, and assembling concrete forms and assisting with the pouring of concrete.
- The concrete finisher is required to read and understand plans and specifications, estimate material amounts needed and place orders for product. They are responsible for tracking product quantities and finishing concrete.
- The concrete finisher must maintain leadership qualities and be willing to teach and train within their line of work.
- The concrete finisher will act as assistants to other trades and operators.
- The concrete finisher will help clean and prepare the job site each day.
- The concrete finisher will help with the loading, unloading and delivering of materials.
- The concrete finisher may also control traffic, set up markers, cones and barricades and may flag vehicles to control the traffic flow.
- To qualify as a concrete finisher you must have a minimum of five full year’s experience finishing concrete.
- Employees are expected to lift 50+ pounds on a daily basis.
- Employees are required to bend, squat, lift, carry, kneel, climb and crawl.
- As you can see by the description above, the position requires a great deal of agility and balance. The physical demands of this position are important to your safety and the safety of those working around you. It is important that you can think and move quickly and be aware of your surroundings at all times.
